Tomato Powder

Perfect as a base for soup mixes, sauces, stews, and meatloaf, Augason Farms Tomato Powder is an essential item to add to any emergency food supply. Augason Farms Tomato Powder is certified gluten-free and a versatile emergency food to keep on hand. It can be easily reconstituted and used to make tomato paste, pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce and tomato juice. Just add the indicated amount of water and blend until the desired thickness is achieved.

Easy Sweet and Sour Sauce Recipe

Ingredients: ½ cup water, 1 tbsp. cornstarch, ¼ cup Augason Farms Tomato Powder, 1 16-oz can crushed pineapple with juice, ½ tsp. ginger, 1 clove garlic (pressed), 1 tbsp. soy sauce. To Prepare: In a small sauce pan mix cornstarch and water, then add remaining ingredients. Stir constantly until mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. Pour over your favorite rice dish and enjoy!

Some products such as eggs, creamy soups and bread mixes have a shelf life up to 5 to 10 years. Extreme temperatures will deteriorate the quality and shelf life. For best results store in a cool and dry place at temperatures between 55°F and 70°F.

    This has a good taste and color. It is packaged well in a sturdy can. I bought this to have on hand incase I run out of Tomato sauce or don't have fresh tomatoes for making soup. It works well to make ketchup and other Tomato based things. The size for the price was reasonable.

    Tomato powder is better than tomato face...but really the smell and flavor of this product is great! The container is perfect for storing additional powder without moisture concerns,.with color and consistency remaining intact. I will buy this brand again!

    I like this product very much.
    Nice price if you do the math.
    Two heaping tablespoons and I get tomato juice.
    Four and I get tomato soup.
    Six and I get tomato sauce.
    Eight and I get tomato paste.
    25 year shelf life until you open it.
    You will be very happy to own it when the
    stores shut down unexpectedly.

    This is the third can I've purchased. I feel like it's an absolute must have. I carry a container of the tomato powder in our camper. It cuts out the need for about any other canned tomatoe products i might need. Less cans less weight. We've used it for pizza sauce, in place of tomato paste or sauce in recipes as well as adding to soups. Recently tried a recipe we ended up liking that combined the tomatoe powder with powdered milk and spices for an instant tomatoe soup for 2.

    Buy what you can, when you can. Of all the emergency branded supplies I have, tomato powder is one my must have products. It has good nutrients and can be used for so many applications and takes up little space. I buy when on sale, and I also buy non emergency packed tomato powders as I really like it that much. One note about tomato powders- they tend to clump. All freeze dried tomato products that aren't loaded with preservatives and anti-caking agents will have clumped balls. This does not make it a bad product or an unusable product. It will dissolve in liquid. It is not an issue. I mention this because I see others mentioning it as a bad thing. It is really not a thing, at all. Oxygen absorber may not do a darn thing. Really, it isnt an issue to spend energy over. But, when I go to open this can, I will likely portion the contents into smaller mylar pouches or vac seal in a mason jar as the large #10 (number ten) will take awhile to work through. Little goes a long way.

    I like Augason Farms, I buy from them regularly. I tend to watch for sales as I am really just fleshing out my long term pantry rather than relying on it. I try to buy a few extra goods every time I am at the store, and I try to pick up an emergency packed item when it is on sale as I tend to just tuck it away and forget about it. Though occasionally something emergency packed will be cheaper than a regular non-emergency packed item, and I will buy it then (which then gives me opportunity to try it out).
