I make accessories for commercial products. Being able to accurately measure those products is key to me getting the prototype design right the first time around. These calipers are both inexpensive and accurate. Certainly accurate enough for the work I do.

The construction is solid and the pointed parts are SHARP so be careful! Comes with a user manual a small screw driver to open the battery compartment AND two extra batteries.

Only nice thing to have would be a backlit LED display but that's more of a nice-to-have rather than a requirement.

It returns to zero regularly when closed. My last caliper would be slightly off, particularly after a long measurement. This one rarely needs to be reset to zero. My only complaint is that the last two digits are in a tiny font. They could be a little bigger. The entire tool is made of metal, which gives it a nice hefty feel. The battery cover requires a screw. There are two screws, but only one is for the battery. Good luck remembering which one it is by the time the battery wears out. It takes the larger flat battery, not the little button battery. I suspect that may give a good battery life.
