5.0 out of 5 stars Easy (and not messy) to install, and no leaks: that's a win.

For our application, this seal was easy to install, and we have no leaks. So, it does the job.
Just FYI: Our flange was flush with the tile floor, so we used the included spacer as directed by the instructions. It looked ridiculously tall and the toilet seemed to initially sit well above the floor. Snugged down the hold-down bolts and then allowed it some time to settle while cleaning up. After about 20mins, the flange had compressed down and bolts were final-tightened. Final installation settled where it should, toilet is stable, no sign of leals,... and it was nice to avoid sticky messy wax!

So easy to use, even I can do it.

I installed two new toilets in two remodeled bathrooms. In one, the new floor had been installed and the flange was slightly higher than the floor. No problem. The rubber Fluidmaster sealed completely. No leaks, no worry about adjusting the toilet position after it's placed, no mess.

In the second bathroom the floor hasn't been installed yet. I wasn't going to put the second toilet in until the floor was installed. But the tank on the old toilet broke so I didn't have any choice. This flange was MUCH higher than the floor. I had to tighten the toilet down a little more than I felt comfortable doing but it doesn't seem to have hurt anything. Just like the first, no leaks, no problems. Even with the ultra-high flange. Just take the thin, pre-installed seal/spacer off the Fluidmaster rubber flange and it was good to go. And I won't have a wax ring to worry about when I remove this toilet to install the floor.

These Fluidmaster rubber seals worked great and I highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Install

The old wax ring was nasty to clean up. This newer wax free gasket was super easy to install. It's really easy to know if you need the stackable seal that comes with it. After you put the toilet back on and flush... either it flushes great, or water goes everywhere. Mine was the latter. I had to lift back off the toilet, add the stackable seal, which just slides on top of the other gasket. Replaced the toilet, and it works great!
This newer ring will be an easy clean up for any possible future issues. I will buy for my other toilet when the time comes, and will highly recommend to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome product, but have a partner help you install it.

This thing is great. It's clean to install, and has a great seal.

BUT.

you definitely, definitely want a partner to help you install it, because, unlike a normal wax ring, which compresses under weight and doesn't spring back up, this silicone ring has suspension, and unless you have someone of considerable girth and weight sit aloft your seat as you descend your porclein throne onto the flange, you're going to have a tough time aligning the screws.

In my case, I tried soloing it, and the toilet was so wobbly and off the ground due to the springiness of the silicone ring that the actual distance from the nuts and bolts was substantially higher, and that caused be to have to screw the nuts harder than needed...In turn, the PVC flange ring cracked on BOTH sides... so I had to replace it.

I later had a partner come in an sit on the toilet when I tried again, and it came together like butter.

So, lesson learned: GET HELP WHEN YOU INSTALL THIS.

I wish the instructions booklet had done a bit better of a job in highlighting how important the suspension issue would be and that having someone to sit on it would simplify the whole process dramatically.

When you flush your toilet and water starts pouring out from between the base and floor, it's never a good thing. I ordered this to replace the wax ring with plans to install it myself. Fortunately, my brother came and helped with it and I assisted so I would know how for future. My reason for buying this instead of wax was because I was concerned that if I had done the replacement myself, there was a chance that I might not get the toilet seated exactly right the first time. And if that were to happen, it would mess up a wax ring and I would end up needing another. We encountered another issue when we realized that the floor tile that my toilet sits on is a fraction of an inch higher in the middle, causing it to rock back and forth. We shimmed it at the back so it won't rock, but this is another consideration for this ring instead of wax, because this one will flex where the wax will not. This one is also not messy like those wax rings are when you have to scrape all that off the floor and the base of the toilet. I am pleased with it and would definitely purchase again (but I really hope I never have to!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Product lacks dimensional requirements
Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2024
The toilet flange sits on top of the floor by about 3/8". The toilet outlet is flush with the base of the toilet and the depth of the tapered toilet outlet is 3/4". The Fluidmaster seal (without the black extender of course) adds too much thickness and causes the toilet to rock and not sit flat on the floor.

I tried removing the 1/4" black foam from the blue seal but that still wasn't enough. The 3 raised ribs on the top of the seal added 1/8" or so causing the problem.

Since the Amazon return window expired a few days ago and the cost of the seal was less than $10 I decided to try to cut the ribs off. The main sealing to the toilet is the inner rib shown with my finger in the picture. The seal to the flange is silicone to silicone with the tapered toilet porcelain providing the pressure to seal.

It did rock ever so slightly until I put weight on it, The acid test was to fill the bowl and look for leaks. Fortunately there were none!

I really didn't want to use a wax ring to seal toilet, as it makes such a mess if the toilet needs to be removed. Fortunately I managed to make this work, but buyer beware. The instructions say absolutely nothing about dimensional requirements of the toilet concerning its' output, or the height requirements of the flange.
