THIRD UPDATE ( Feb. 2024! 2 years, 7 months total of use) : Guys, I don’t know what to say. The light still works to my liking. I know that I mentioned in an earlier update that the flap at the very end of the special clip attached to the light, that the flap broke off. But I have found that the remainder of the clip still clips nice and strong in a normal way without any issues. The illumnation of the light, the brightness, the power, the ability to charge it, the flexible neck (which I thought could be weak & be an issue), ALL of these things are working nice and strong and seem like they will be working well for me for more time to come. It’s been 2 and a half years without fail. The light charges VERY fast, I would say even plugging it in for 20 minutes gives it a pretty good solid chunk of power. Any longer and you’ll do great. I do wish the usb was the most updated version, but this works fine. No complaints on function whatsoever. I was still quite poor at the time of this review, and so even though I talked about purchasing more of these lights, or even buying a clip to glue to the light (because the clip had a piece fall off but still works) I have not done either of these things, because this light has really come through for me. I thought to come on here and update this review again, when I used the light again yesterday when I needed to use my phone to take important photos of some documents, and my lighting was just awful until I used this light. I also used it on the hood of my car, and I also used it to look under the sofa to find something. I’m telling you, these lights should just be included as bonus items in every single thing because they are so handy on so many levels.
SECOND UPDATE POSTED JAN. 7, 2023 (18 months and some weeks of use): I am still using the light with the clip having no extra flap, which was the feature I loved the most on this product, as mentioned in my earlier parts of this review. I genuinely still love/use this light. I just have to clip it to surfaces in a much different way. In some ways the clip now works better without the extra flap, depending on how I choose to clip it. The rest of the light and features of it are working great. If I didnt live in such an old house, I wouldn't need to rely on a product like this, so it may seem silly to some but I think it's well worth it.
FIRST UPDATE POSTED NOV 18, 2022 (17 months of use): The clip/clamp on this light is really where this product shines. Although the light itself still illuminates, and the neck of the light is still intact, there is one part that broke- the flap on the special clip. As of yesterday when I was using this light to work on a craft project that involved tiny parts, the flap that sits at the tip of the clip broke at the hinge and the flap fell off. If you read my original review in the next paragraph, I explain that the light is special because of this cool feature that the clip has. With the flap, the light can be clipped to a headboard, or a board on a shelf, or a thick book...anywhere that the thickness is more than just a few pages. So the broken clip is still able to clamp a little bit...but without that flap at the edge of the clip, it limits where the clip will be able to hold. I've had this light for over a year, and the light itself still works great with good charging, and the neck of the light still has not had any issues (17 months of total use!). I plan to glue another clip to this light, but unless I can find a clip that works like the one that this light had on it, the clip will probably be a much smaller thing. Maybe I will look at the hardware store for a small clamp and glue that instead, who knows. In the mean time, I am so pleased with the light Im going to go ahead and order 2 new ones, and then find a clip to glue to the one with the broken clip so it gets a new life.
ORIGINAL REVIEW POSTED ON JAN. 9, 2022: This light has saved me because I have used it almost every day since I purchased this in June (so I've had this for 6 months). I am living with someone who lives in a very old house that was custom built, this means things like light switches and light bulbs are not something that can be picked up from the regular hardware store. As a result, whenever another light goes out, we are having to come up with creative ways to maneuver through the darker spaces. This light has literally saved my life. I know that sounds dramatic, but when you drop your keys within the cluttered closet in the hallway that also does not have a light source, you become desperate. The thing that makes this light so effective, is the clip. The hinge of the clip is elevated, and the tip of the clip has an extra flap. Because of these extra features on the clip, it makes it possible to clip the light to the edge of a shelf or headboard that otherwise might be too thick for your average clip to grab on to. This increases the versatility in the lights usage for me. Light inside the freezer dead? No problem, clip it to the shelf as I rummage through and clean it. Need to rummage through your duffle bag and the hotel light is too dim? No problem, I roll up a pair of jeans and clip it to that to stabilize it as I unpack. I've used this in the old car where the lights can't get to. I've used it to find stuff under the seats, and the bendable/flexible neck part of the light makes it again possible for me to angle it and make it handsfree with the clip, so that I can use my hands to get at retrieving what got swallowed up in the car seats. I think it goes without saying how helpful it is in camping or reading situations, but something else I use that this light has is different hues of light. You have one that is an yellowish/warm/off-white hue, you have another that is a blueish/cool hue (similar to what you see some car headlights have), and you have a hue that seems like it's pure white/clear. I honestly mostly use the "white/clear" one because it seems brightest, but if I am reading a book or writing, I prefer to use the yellowish hue because it's softer on the eyes (especially on paper that is white). Additional to that, I can change the level of brightness of the light, there is a Low, a Medium, and a Bright level and you can do this on every hue. The last feature that I really like, but could also be the death of the light, is that it is rechargeable (and if you press the button that is located on the base near the clip, you will see 4 dot lights that will light up to show you how much power is left of the light!). It uses a micro USB (I think it's called micro?) And in my experience it doesn't actually take the 3 hrs to charge it, and even still works passed the point that it says there's no power left (although it may be dimmer than usual in that case). So although I think this is a 20 stars product, I am giving it 1 less star (for a total of 4 stars) because I feel that there should be replaceable batteries of some kind. I also want to state my feeling about the neck of the light. I have used this light A LOT. So I have gotten a feel for how this light is built, and I do feel that anyone who cherishes this light the way I do needs to be a bit careful/mindful of the delicate nature of the flexible neck. I have seen photos of others who had this part snap off the unit's base- so because of this, I am trying to keep the neck of the light in good condition. That being said, and because I have clipped the light to every angle imaginable, I definitely HAVE turned/twisted the light to aim the direction of the light backwards, or away from the base. Something that most reading lights just won't do. Because of this, I was unable to do something I originally wanted to do to make the light really travel friendly, which was I wanted to bend the neck of the light down and curl the neck around the base tightly, so that I could make the entire light as compact as possible, so that it would fit into a bag or even a pocket nicely. I have since abandoned that idea since the neck creaks, and gives me the feeling that it would somehow snap or break in some way if I were to try to do that. If I take this light with me somewhere, it gets placed into a spot in my bag where it won't be disturbed being in the shape its already in.
