I highly recommend the mineral oil and the wax cream for your wooden cutting boards. I applied a liberal amount of the oil to my boards using my hands (paper towels seem to leave particles behind) because they had never been oiled before and were very dry to the point I had to reapply 2 extra times for a total of 3 applications, allowing about 24 hours for the oil to penetrate between coats. I then wiped off any excess on the 3rd day with a paper towel, but I suggest a microfiber towel that doesn’t leave participes behind. Finally, I applied the wax cream liberally as well. I allowed the wax cream to penetrate without interruption for 2 days before wiping off any excess. The result is amazing. The wood is revitalized, smooth and clearly conditioned. Knife marks are no longer pronounced or visible. My particular process took a total of 5 days because I really wanted to go above and beyond but you don’t actually have to reapply more than once. Do allow 24 hours for the products to penetrate the wood surface, though. Although I don’t use my wooden cutting boards daily, even if I did, I reckon that with the process I underwent I wouldn’t have to go through it too often, but the products suggest this is done monthly. The waiting between coats made me impatient but it is worth it. Stick with a routine and your boards will last!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seal your wooden cutting boards
Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2024
We decided to switch from plastic cutting boards back to our wooden hardwood boards recently. I decided before we made the switch to sand, oil, and seal them all. I ordered the combo oil and cream and went to work. Sanding out all the past cuts and most of the stains was pretty easy with a Dewalt Palm Sander. I then applied the oil and let it soak in for 24 hours. I did them same for the sealer cream. Now our cutting boards are not only beautiful but they bead moisture and wipe clean with a wet sponge. There is plenty of product to treat them all monthly for at least a year or more.

Rich, rubs into Boos Block cutting board nicely and penetrates the wood. Much nicer than my old go to: mineral oil. Highly recommend. Tube is a bargain as a little goes a long way.
