Perfect size for kid's hands!

The kids delfie camera is an excellent digital HD video camera designed specifically for children aged 3 to 9 years. It makes a perfect birthday gift, especially for my 6 yr old boy. He found it easy to set and started taking pictures right away. His pictures were vivid and bright.

I gave a camera to my 6 year old nephew and 2 year old G-Baby when I took them to the zoo. The cameras kept both kids engaged in the experience and occupied for much longer than I expected. They focused on what they were taking pictures of, such as, colors, position distance, etc. They could quickly see on the screen if the picture looked how they wanted it to or to think about how they could make the picture even better. The camera is safe for the kids to use independently as it's not linked to the internet or cellular compatible. Also, the camera is protected with two thick layers of silicone. The camera housing is silicone and the added decorative cover is silicone. The decorative cover was different from what was shown in the first description picture but it was the same color and theme, so I didn't mind that too much, but I would have preferred the other one. I appreciate that the decorative cover is removable for when the child gets older. The instructions were not very helpful in learning how to actually use the camera but you pick up the basics quickly. Besides being able to take pictures and selfies, the camera has three games included. (see pictures). This camera came fully charged and ready to use. It's a turn on and go, no setup required. There is a USB cord and a carrying strap included.

I didn't get this for a kid -- I'm a professor doing research in computational photography and I got this to hack for research purposes. In fact, I now have 7 differently-branded versions of this camera. Thus, I'm going to review it critically and in comparison to the other branded versions.

First off, what you're getting for the price here is amazingly featureful and I would think a kid would be thrilled to get and use one of these. It's not just a tiny camera with a color rear LCD; it has both forward and backward facing cameras, has a built-in rechargeable battery, and comes with charging cable, neck strap, cute half-case, and a 32GB TF card. I have no clue how they can sell these cameras so cheaply; the main components cost more if bought separately -- which is why I bought this to hack. The firmware in the camera is pretty minimal in terms of camera control options, but has the usual fun filters and frames; it also has some simple games built-in.

The camera pretty much does what the ad says it should do and, honestly, the images look great on the rear color LCD. Unfortunately, that's about as high-resolution as the images get. The ad for this one states 48MP still resolution, and the camera can provide up to 48MP stills. The catch is, the pixel count isn't the resolution. Yes, the two images here were shot with it (note the camera doesn't automatically rotate images shot in portrait orientation), each is a 8000x6000 pixel JPEG, and they look great on the camera LCD, but the detail present suggests that the sensor is actually just 640x480 and very low-quality interpolation is used to scale up to a very blocky-looking 48MP. Video was rendered at the standard 1920x1080 16:9 aspect ratio, and audio was recorded, but the video has the image content stretched vertically: it looks like the video is scaled up from the central 640x240 portion of the sensor. Like most versions, this camera does not show up as a USB device when plugged into a computer; USB is for charging only, and you'll need a charger that isn't included.

In summary, this stand-alone camera contains the optical equivalent of two $3 webcams -- which, given the price, is an awesomely good deal. Strongly recommended as long as you're OK with 640x480 stills and decent-looking video that is stretched. This one seems to be one of the newer variants in that it is using a USB C port and the newer chipset, but all these similar-looking cameras really differ primarily in that a few parameters have been tweaked. I think the choice really comes down to personal preference for color and half-case. This one is cheaper than most while still including a 32GB card and half case...

Don't want your child taking a million photos with your phone? Then this is a must have! This camera is super cute and will keep that photo enthused child busy! The camera works great and love that they can look at the photos right from the camera. Awesome price!

Don't let the 3 star review label fool you, this has absolutely captivated our niece for days at a time. She has taken pictures of EVERYTHING and for the price point they actually turn out pretty well! The camera is made with durable plastic that has survived multiple tumbles down the concrete stairs, a journey in a Husky's mouth and the bottom of the car during summer. Discovering what you child finds intriguing enough to capture and share with you is without a doubt the best part of this camera.

But, there was a weird decision made that baffles us. Aside from a camera this device is also a... game? We have no idea why the designers decided to add games to this tiny camera but they did, and at least for our niece she gets frustrated that the games don't allow her to take pictures. -2 stars for the confusing decision and the frustration it causes. We don't want her to be sucked into games all the time so including them on something artistic is a turn-off.

I'm very impressed with this camera. For a kids camera, the resolution is very good and the camera is adorable. I got this for my 5-year-old niece and she's delighted with it. First off, it's adorable. The unicorn silicone sleeve that protects it is so cute. What's impressive is how many features this camera has for such an inexpensive price. It has both front and back facing cameras so that she can take selfies. It records video and there are a few games installed, including Tetris. What's nice is that my niece feels like a grown up because she has her own camera. Overall, this is a win.
