Like many pandemic pets my kitties want to be with me at all times. This board includes a plastic cover and 4 drawers that allow me to protect the pieces at a moment's notice. I found that I am able to slide the plastic to partially uncover and work on a segment of a puzzle, even when a codependent kitty is sitting on it.
The structure of the board is nice and strong. It arrived completely intact without any blemishes. I firmly pulled and yanked on each of the edges and drawer knobs to ensure that everything is solid. There wasn't a single wiggle. I was even able to carry the board up a flight of stairs with 3 kitties sitting on top and it didn't bow or sag.
The lazy susan was easy to adhere. It spins smoothly and effortlessly. I have a friend that I like to puzzle with. This feature makes it so much easier for us to maneuver. It's been so convenient that we also use this for playing board games.
Some of the spinning puzzle boards that I considered buying were round or square. However I specifically wanted a rectangular-shaped one to match the dimensions of the jigsaws I typically assemble. The measurements provided in the listing are 100% accurate (I double checked). The first puzzle I worked on was a 1,000 piece Ravensburger (as shown in the video). There was plenty of space for the entire puzzle. However not all 1,000 piece puzzles are the same size.
The surface of the main body of the board and each of the drawers is smooth without being slick. This was important to me since I have a complete set of Magic Puzzle Company puzzles in my 'To Do' pile. They have a surprise twist that requires sliding portions of the completed puzzles into a new position. I don't prefer to work on an angled puzzle board. However I did test how far I could incline this board and still use it effectively. I was able to tilt it approximately 70° (90° is fully vertical) before the jigsaw pieces started to gently slide.
The drawers can be completely removed from the board and function as individual puzzle trays for sorting pieces. Or they can remain within the frame and provide additional puzzling space. Magnets hold the closed drawers in place and prevent them from accidentally slipping out.
The only con that I have observed is that the board cannot easily be stored vertically while a puzzle is in progress because the cover just rests on top of the board. Usually I stow in-progress puzzles horizontally under a bed so that isn't an issue for me. However adding a large binder clip to each side allowed me to completely invert the board and the pieces on the main surface stayed in place (pieces in the drawers still shifted but stayed contained inside).
To sum up - I absolutely love this puzzle board! It has all the features I need to successfully assemble jigsaw puzzles with other people and intrusive kitties. I anticipate being able to use it for many years.
