5.0 out of 5 stars Great Present

I bought this for my son who DM's a weekly campaign for his housemates. He loved it! Quality is great, spins smoothly with good easy to read numbers, and the design doubles as a figit spinner. Great value!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice

It looks and feels great, it's nice solid metal. The metal is smooth, the numbers are easy to read, what you see in the pictures is what you get. You might need to hold it to the light to see the numbers sometimes but it's not too bad, plus I don't know anyone that rolls dice with the light off anyway ????. It looks and feels built to last, this isn't some cheap hallow metal. It's amazing design but it's not perfect. I don't know if it was designed to stop spinning after about 2 seconds or not, but mine stops very fast when I spin it. I've read other reviews that said it spins too long, but mine doesn't spin long at all. I wouldn't mind a longer spin because you can always stop it with your finger... I think it's better if it spins long because then you'll get a true random roll (kind of. read the next part)

There is a eyesore on it though. On a common d10 (dice with 10 sides) it's number 0-9, this roller has a actually "10" on it instead of a "0"... so it gets a little confusing when you roll for percental. Also all the dice are numbered in numerical order, but anyone who rolls dice knows the numbers are not in numerical order, so I don't know if that effects the randomness or not, but it would be nice to have the numbers ordered the way they are on actual dice, just for that extra realness... Overall great product, but I had to take a star off because I'm not sure how long it's suppose to spin, if anyone knows please tell me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay spinner, could use some work

I got this as an alternative to dice, or just something to spin for a bit. Some of the design isn't great, like the sword covering up numbers. It spins well enough, but not for a long period of time, which seems a bit disappointing. I don't recommend spinning the sword portion, as it spins less than the dial, and makes me think of those cheap plastic spinners with children's board games.

Remembering the numbers on each side is easy enough, as one side is the d20 & d10/%, and the other the rest of the dice. The percent portion is directly above the d10 portion with the same number, so it makes it easy to tell what you rolled.

Overall, it's okay for what it is, but I'd find something a little clearer, and something that spins a little bit longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super easy to return

I had to return this product because I obviously didn’t know what I was buying. I’m sure the product is fantastic for what people need it for. I don’t play D&D, and I thought it worked a different way, but it was super easy to return, and that’s very important to me. So if you play D&D, and you need something like this, get it. It’s easy to return if you can’t use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars ok if polyhedral dice won't work for you for some reason
Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2024
This seems more like a novelty than a practical die. It does work, and a single spinner can replace a full set of polyhedral dice... sort of. (But note that it's also expensive enough that you could get a couple full sets of traditional dice for the same cost - as long as we're just talking basic dice.)

Rolling multiple numbers is a problem, for two reasons. First, a spin takes much longer than a roll of a traditional die. Second, while the spinner has a track corresponding to each die in a traditional set (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20), you can only use one track per spin. The most obvious example would be if you're rolling 1-100; they even include a second d10 track marked in 10's, but it doesn't matter because you still need two spins to complete the roll. With traditional dice you can get your result in a couple seconds; with this it could easily take the better part of a minute.

I personally don't like the way the d4 and d8 are combined on a single track. It's not THAT hard to interpret, but it's just unnecessary. (If they'd left out the useless 10's-digit track I mentioned above, that would free up a track so that d8 and d4 could be separated.)

It also would be pretty easy to cheat the result. And it would be easy to accidentally interfere with the spinner in a way that isn't necessarily unfair but might look like cheating. But it's not super easy to tell the difference. So I would be hesitant to use this in groups where anyone might take things too seriously.

If you simply don't have enough tabletop space to accommodate a dice tray, this would be an ok compromise. That might make it sensible for games while traveling. But if I'm traveling to the game (rather than the game itself taking place while I'm traveling), I'd still just as soon carry a bag with a full set of traditional dice.

So... why did I rate it 4 stars if I see it as impractical? Well, if you're paying attention to the product page, everything I've said should already be clear to you - so I assume if you're considering buying one, then you understand what it is and what it isn't. As a novelty, it looks neat and is well made. If you just like the idea of having a source of randomness you can carry and use pretty much anywhere, it's fine.

I thought these were going to be lighter weight plastic but no they are heavier duty and really cool. They don't look cheaply made and work very well. Perfect gift for the gamer in your life

4.0 out of 5 stars An expected gift for my girlfriend
Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2024
If you're not using it just right, it just spins and spins and spins... While this does not make it a great die, it does make it an excellent fidget toy for my girlfriend when she's bored at game night. I love the weight and feel of this spinner die and how easy this color scheme is for me to read, but, again, it is not that great of a die for gaming. My girlfriend loves it, though, so I may just let her keep it.
