5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Lots of fun in this small device!

Bought this for my 11 yo’s bday gift (but secretly for myself as someone who grew up playing Galaga at the real arcades).

The game quality, sound and graphics were solid. Even the feel of the console and the buttons felt solid. Sure the screen is small but what do you expect for a travel game?

Definitely recommend this product and even would like to eventually collect the other game options.

Great display and controls. Game speed is challenging. Best of all, you can use USB C cable to operate the unit instead of batteries.

4.0 out of 5 stars My mom loves it!

I bought this for my mom for her birthday as she used to tell me about her and her brothers playing games like Centipede in the arcades growing up. She gets real into it screaming at the screen! She plays it all the time and enjoys all kinds of games it comes pre-loaded with. I think she even ordered more games after she found the store built in. It does take a good amount of batteries though. Kinda reminiscent of my dad’s old game gear. Great gift for the retro lover.

Classic Tetris love. Colorful, fun display. However, the playing field is like 1:2 aspect ratio, and the screen is 4:3. So the actual Tetris board takes up a tiny 25% of the screen, and rest is wasted real estate. I know they want to mass produce and reuse the plastic shells and screens. (This is probably the same Chinese LCD screen that used to be in older cell phones.) But it would have been much better to rotate the screen 90° and tweak the programming to accommodate. But it's better than the 1,000,000 in 1 bootleg handhelds or using a Game Boy for one game.

5.0 out of 5 stars My First 'My Arcade' Portable

This is my first product from My Arcade. I went with the Atari portable because there's a decent number of games included and first impressions? For what it is, not bad.

It feels nice to hold, the games play well, the sound is solid, the screen is actually alright for this little guy, and for the money, it's a good value for what you're getting.

While I'm not nostalgic for Atari seeing how the year I was born, the original company was long dead and heck, Sega was still making game consoles, Atari games do have charm.

One of my favorites is Missile Command and I even managed to score 43,855. The picture may not be in the best light seeing how I was playing the game at night, but still.

I even managed to get a super high score in Centipede by complete accident.

My only complaint with the device is that this thing doesn't feature rechargeable batteries. Having a USB-C port and being able to play the portable with it plugged in to something is nice, but meh.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for retro game enthusiasts, but could be better

I bought the ATARI themed handheld, and it's pretty good...lots of games emulated from the ATARI 2600, some of them show their age, but most of the games in this collection are decent and fun to play, I may be biased because I am a child of the 80's it has a few really good games from that era, but don't let the "100 games available" gimmick fool you...in all honesty you'll get a dozen or so games that are actually worth your time, the rest of them are crap that never actually officially released on an ATARI console it functions just fine as a handheld game, the controls work fine... although I was disappointed that it's not rechargable, in order to power it, you need AA batteries or a C-micro plug which isn't included, theirs no way to make it rechargable...in this day and age with our current technology, it makes absolutely no sense to have a handheld device not be rechargeable, what was ATARI thinking?! But at the end of the day it's a decent handheld for either kids or ATARI enthusiasts

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad in almost every way. Do not buy.

Where to start ... First of all this is not an arcade port, silly of me to expect that I guess. No no no, this has to be the Sega Genesis version. The Genesis' biggest weakness was its sound processor. The sounds have that distinct static/distortion/crackley sound. You get these lovely sounds through a single mono speaker that's loud enough.

The animation is not as smooth and the colors not as bright as the arcade. 100 percent a Genesis port.

The screen, oh the screen is just terrible. Even looking at it straight on the viewing angle is messed up. Tilting your head 2 degrees and a portion of the screen goes black. I didn't even know they made screens this bad still.

The d pad is too poorly designed to be reliable to do anything. Ryu's fireballs and dragon punches cannot be executed reliably. Want to press down and back to avoid being tripped? You wish. The d pad pretty much pushes all the way flat, so all the buttons up, down, left and right all press at the same time, it needs to rock on a center stud in the middle of the d pad.

The XYZ ABC buttons work, would like them with half the travel that they do have.

Would I recommend this product? Sadly no. I could forgive all the short comings of this product if I could play it and actually have fun. The d pad is what keeps this device from being playable. If you cannot reliably perform special moves then there is no point to playing at all.

Pros: It looks cool and has a super sweet package it came in.
