5.0 out of 5 stars Fun MTG Starter decks

Sealed with original cards. Product packaging had minor damage to fit in shipping package, but no damage to cards themselves. Fun deck for the kids who just got into MTG last year and just finished the LotR trilogy this year.

Just got into playing this game. Don’t know much about the cards yet but they look really awesome. There wasn’t any damage to the boxes, the cards or anything. If you’re a fan of the game and LOTR, I recommend getting these

Great couple of decks to learn with a friend/partner. Decks appear to be about the same level of power and teach you how to ramp and create a strategy. Great way to learn magic.

Deck boxes aren’t the best quality and don’t fit sleeved cards.

I already had a lotr commander deck but picked these up for really cheap to teach someone how to play. Both are decent challenger decks and fun to play with great artwork. If I had one complaint it would be that the "deck boxes" while they look nice, are cardboard and not durable at all

This beginner’s pack for MTG LOTR is perfect and has great value for any collector or someone starting out. It even gives a little instruction kit or learning how to play the basics and get you started on your journey!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good. There are a few things I wish were different.

It's nice to see playable pre-constructed decks of cards available at reasonable prices. Each of these decks is about $10, which is a sane price to pay for a deck. The commander decks are much more expensive (5 times and sometimes more).

What I wish would have been different?
• A sideboard for each deck would be nice (15 more cards...commons).
• A plastic deck box large enough to hold all of the cards double sleeved.
• A divider.
• A list of all of the cards that are in each deck...perhaps it could be printed on the divider.
• A name for each of the decks. (This wouldn't cost you a cent. I'll be calling mine "'Food and Fellowship Jr.' and 'The Hosts of Mordor Jr..')
• A booklet for each describing each deck's strategy that's the size of a card and could be sleeved and included in the deck box.

What else could have been added...but in my opinion is probably asking for too much?
• Sleeves (It would be nice to be able to play it on the spot without another trip to the hobby shop.)
• A life counter die (again...being able to play it immediately is nice).

Some of this could be implemented without increasing the product price too much (not at all for some). Some though would push the price way too high to be practical. Still, it would be nice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good gift, nice cards, terrible shipping/packaging by Amazon

This is a good gift bundle- for a MTG fan or a LOTR fan. Good stuff that comes in a shiny box and has some nice add-ons (as you'd expect in a gift bundle): a spindown life counter, one collector booster pack, 8 set boosters for the LOTR expansion, some foil lands, some scene cards, and a nice box to store cards in. A good gift (and gift is operable here).

The value for the money is pretty solid- as of this writing, I paid $44 for the bundle (as a preorder). Not too shabby considering the cost of items if purchased separately. Heck, that's lower than the cost of the 8 set boosters alone. Not a bad deal.

However, the crappy part was the shipping and handling on Amazon's part- and while that doesn't really have a ton to do with the product itself, it does bear keeping in mind. I bought two of these- and they were shipping in a cardboard bag- just two bundles jostled around across the country and through the illustrious USPS careful handling <sarc>. As you can see, they arrived pretty beat up. And that also goes for the inside too- the art stuff is kind of dinged up, and as for the gift presentation, it doesn't look the best.

Amazon should seriously ship stuff like this better protected as many people are buying this stuff as a collector's item, an investment for later, or a gift for someone special- and each of those things needs to look nice.

So, great product, good cards, cool goodies...but terrible shipping/packaging and care taken to keep the product looking nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars ITS LOTR, ITS GLORIOUS

Honestly, im not even talking about how powerful the cards are at this point, if as much love and care that went into these cards went into the show we wouldnt have an issue. The Rings of Power show is disgraceful to LoTR and Tolkien. But these cards have references to all the old stuff and not very well known stuff and the artwork is beautiful! I love the direction the art took not so much movie accurate so it did it's own thing phenomenal! Worth it even for a new player like me!
