I originally was looking for a wooden set, but purchased this one for the variety and realism of the foods, as well as the extras like the bins and the basket. It’s plastic but looks decently realistic, including the interior of the foods. The Velcro holds well. Easy to clean with a Clorox wipe. They’re small but perfectly sized for little toddler hands. The food items are carefully wrapped, and the packaging makes this very giftable.
Most importantly, my toddler LOVES playing with it. She loves Velcro and taking the foods apart and putting them together again. She practices identifying and naming the different foods. She also likes it when I hold the food and ask her to find the item in her picture books. She loves playing with and stacking the bins too! As she grow, she’ll have fun sorting by food type, color, etc. The opportunities are limitless!
