I bought this for my son early this year, prior to his 2nd birthday in March of 2015! The Strider Balance Bike is amazing!!! My wife was a little unsure at first, but quickly saw how our son was learning to balance completely on his own. He was timid with the bike at first, walked along side it, and got annoyed when it would fall over. Soon after he was straddling the bike and walking around the house. His progression did not take long after that. We mainly stuck to having him use it in the house at first, though shortly after he started using it outside on the grass.
About 4 months ago he started riding it on trails both on and off road. He can now fly around the house, down the driveway, up and down hills, on pretty much any terrain, and he can’t get enough. We honestly have to hide his bike at times because we just can’t take it everywhere. Once he figured out the balancing he started gliding small distances and now he can balance with both feet up for easily 25 feet or more with the right speed. Great construction, awesome design, and several accessories available, one of which we will be adding very soon (the ski attachments). I have recorded several GoPro videos of him out riding and enjoying this bike, so much fun!!! Definitely worth the price!
I do have one suggestion for Strider, in case they read this. The adjustable seat and handle bars are very easy to use, we love this; though some type of height/level marking along the rod would make it even better! As we have adjusted over time for our growing and learning kiddo, it can be difficult to go back to a setting you previously had, or when others happen to adjust the seat, being able to easily adjust back to the appropriate height would be much easier with some type of marking system. I have used electrical tape and this works in a pinch. Thanks!
By the way, be prepared to engage in conversation with others about this bike when you take your kiddo out riding, this seriously happens constantly! You’ll be sure to see you kid quickly flying by older kiddos with training wheels on a traditional bike! Eventually we will transition to pedals, but this definitely seems to be the right approach. Enjoy!!! Thank you Strider!!! Please bring some events to Austin Texas and the surrounding areas!!!
