I've always loved Pixar films because the seem to explore what it is to be human. The Inside Out stories provide a colorful way to understand emotion, the role of feelings, and the complexities of growing up. The Shaking With Anxiety Feature Plush brings all the wild uncertainty home - with a dose of cozy whimsy. Anxiety has googly eyes, a tuft of bright orange hair, a really detailed (AND SOFT) outfit - complete with corduroy pants and a striped shirt with wide bell sleeves - and a body that stands on its own. When kids (or adults) twist her hair, she says several phrases. I like her smoky voice - because it's so emotive. She also buzzes as she speaks, which is a cute touch to further convey Anxiety's unease. Does she bring to mind all of our junior high insecurities? Yep. Does she remind us that we STILL have those feelings? Absolutely. Does she offer both a soothing tactile experience AND a reminder that we're all going through it together? Without a doubt.
It's a big order for a plushie, but the cuteness, wildness, vintage color scheme, and sweet voice all combine to make this a helpful toy that I'm sure will spark reaction, conversation, and comfort. Her substantial size and sturdy stance make her a presence in any room.
