one of the best franchises capcom has ever made this game was my online coop obssesion back in the day and the game still holds up till this day witch is awsome. so single player is basicly training still fun but not like the new monster hunter games were the experinces are the same for both single and online play but as i was saying back in the day this was geard more for online since the ps2 is no longer online this games is very short and lacking but its still fun to play it again. when this games was online it was one of the best coop expeirences on the ps2 online mode was chalk full of content you had your 1-6 star quests but you had to level up your hunter rank by doing that teir quests to advance into geting urgant quests to unlock the next teir quests then you also had weekly quests witch ranged from medium to very hard quests but thats were you could get alot of expeirence and rare materials to craft gear. monster hunter has came a long way it keeps getteing better just sad that capcom never realeased any more console versions but still a great franchise and a must buy for the ps2

The product came in good condition, no problems at all. The game is a unique experience compared to other monster hunters I have played.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old but still worth playing

Amazing to see how the series has evolved over the years, this is a fairly primitive aspect of the monster hunter franchise when compared to modern releases like 3G(Ultimate), but that said it is a fulfilling game in its own right and will definitely consume your free time for hundreds of enjoyable hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the "G's"...Gooey, Graphic, and Gorey

Bought it for my Grand daughter to play on my 'old and outdated' (according to her) PS2. She loves it, and according to her (the expert) the graphics, are excellent, and not only does she love playing this 'original' version on the PS2, she has convinced me to start my own quest, and I also am having fun. Recommend it if you don't mind your youngsters laughing at you every time you get killed by a creature from the Jurassic era.

Came in great shape, game itself was a horrible sticking with the newer games but nice to see where it all started and let stay back there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Monster Hunter is Exuberante! (With one flaw.)

Monster Hunter is a game unlike most and because of this many find it to be either incredible diverse or flat out unplayable, I myself fall into the positive placement when mention of the game comes up but that doesn't stop me noticing one problem with this particular version of the franchise, That being the non-existent multiplayer that once made this a perfect game, So if you don't mind playing this solo then you're all set and have no need to worry but if your buying this game with the intention of playing online with other people you are going to be unable for the simple reason that the servers haven't been running since 12.13.07 if you put online aside then I completely recommend this game especially for the low asking price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Action Adventure game on the PS2?
Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2014
Monster Hunter is a classic. It's one of the best franchises on the PS2 and PSP, and perhaps soon the DS. This game arrived in perfect condition just like I ordered it, and it's a great game with beautiful graphics (for a PS2, at least, it won't stand up to a PS4 or anything obviously). I have no complaints.
