5.0 out of 5 stars Great Accessory!

Easily installed on Meta Quest 3. Great fit and was a huge improvement over the default head strap. This head strap is also being used with an after market face pad (AMVR) without issue.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit disapointed

The strap reduces as soon as the battery is higher than the 3s... The setup was easy, the charging is great... But every time I take it off my head it reduces in size and I have to crank it back out again.. I am researching if there is anything I can do to stop it. The reviews I read said it pushed in easy, but in the situation I am having I do not have to do anything but hold the battery end higher than the head set in and it closes up... Will update if I find anything.

3.0 out of 5 stars More comfortable than stock strap, but...
Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2024
It definitely is a significant improvement over the stock strap. It is very comfortable aside from the significant weight it adds.
However, compared to the smaller/lighter K4 Boost, for me this feels quite heavy, bulky, and does not fit as securely as the K4 Boost unless you crank the tightening knob at the back to the point that causes significant discomfort with short uses of time. I imagine this would be an issue with more active VR games.
Additionally, the battery over the pack is quite bulky and though the product page claims you can lay down with it, I could not do that comfortably.
Due to all this, I will be returning it as the K4 is more comfortable for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid halo strap with integrated battery

I've been using a Frankenstein's monster style strap, cobbled together from three different straps to take the best of each. While it worked and was comfortable, it looked a bit odd as the colors didn't line up. When a premium head strap from a premium brand landed in my feed, I figured it was worth a bite.

It's comfortable and highly adjustable. It's the first strap I've used that has a wheel to adjust the tilt of the headset; it also has the usual wheels for tightness and the top strap. It looks and feels good. The USB cable sticks out a bit further than I'd like when not plugged into the headset, but I'll print some clips to hold it in place.

The one concession I'm making with this style is the hot-swappable battery I had with my monster. Since I rarely spend more than four consecutive hours in VR, this shouldn't be much of an issue, but it does factor in when I'm using the headset in a group setting where lots of people are giving it a try. On the other hand, assuming the battery lasts without failing, its integrated nature means the weight it better distributed and won't fall off during heated play.

My first impression unboxing this is that it is made with high quality plastic and seems solidly built. Some other headstraps are very light and flimsy, and I'm glad Kiwi design made a quality headstrap. The plastic feels similar to the official Meta elite strap.

Installing the headset was easy. The two headset arms snap neatly onto the Quest 3 attachment points and both the USB and headphone connectors sit flush. Where the quest 3 headstrap would loop through the top of the unit, you instead have a solid plastic clip, which snaps onto the headset. This hides a nifty little secret and that is there is a dial connected to it which can adjust the tilt of the face plate, allowing you to set your viewing angle vertically. I used this to get a good viewing angle for my lenses, and also to better fit my high cheekbones by tilting the facial interface up a little. I drew arrows to this and other settings in the photographs I uploaded.

Fitting the headset for the first time was very easy and there are a lot of different adjustments built into the strap. One thing it has which many other straps don't, is you can slide the facial interface closer or farther away, similar to the FOV adjustment on a Valve Index. It's friction fit, so you use your thumbs, but it lets you float the headset out in front of your face so it barely touches you, or you can cram it into your eye sockets for nearly light leak free gaming. This really helps balance head and facial pressure, and also helps keep a better grip on your head so you can look around in all directions without the headset becoming too loose.

The battery is unfortunately built into the strap and does not seem to be swappable. That is really a shame because if it had swappable batteries, I would have given this 5 stars and it would be very competitive even at it's higher price tag. I played a few hours of Pavlov and the internal battery stayed at 100% while the headstrap battery dropped from 4 bars to 3. The battery has 4 LED segments which show you remaining power. Both it, and the headset battery are recharged from a usbc connector under the adjustment dial. This is in a great location, as a right angle USB connector fits perfectly and keeps the cable off your shoulders. Both batteries are charged at the same time, and the quest beeped when I plugged it in, indicating it knew there was mains power available.

The headstrap was very configurable and I was able to get a really good fit that held onto my head securely, even when bending forward, or looking at the ceiling. I have a very large head and it's a luxury to find something so comfortable.

I also like how solid the build quality is, and the fact I can pick my headset up by the strap, and it can support it's own weight. Some other headstraps fold in half when picked up by the strap, because their hinges are too loose.

The only real negative I have is that this headstrap is very pricey at $90. Other MFG's like BobaVR have similar headsets at almost half the cost and they have removeable batteries. While the build quality is excellent, the non removeable battery, and cost may be dealbreakers for some.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great headstrap but not for my noggin.
Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2024
I have been using a different halo headstrap for a while and was excited to give this one a try. It does have some interesting design changes over other straps I have seen. The usual small velcro tab that is so hard to thread under the top bar is gone. In its place is a plastic tab that easily snaps onto the bar. That is definitely an improvement.

The halo padding both in front and around the back of your head is also nice and comfortable. The Q3 snaps into the headstap on both sides and has some travel so that it can be adjusted closer or further away from your face. There is also a mohawk strap that is easily adjustable and also takes some of the weight.

The battery evens out the weight distribution on the back of the headstrap and the charging port on the bottom of the battery and 4 small power level indocator lights on top. It is not removeable or swappable so if you have a really long play session you will be taking a break at the end.

Over all this is a very nice headstrap. My only knock is that I could not find a comfortable spot on my noggin. It is more likely due to the size or shape of my head rather than any design flaw in the headstrap. Your mileage may be different. Besides that, I really wish it had swappable batteries so one could be charging while the other was keeping your Q3 topped off.
