At the low price for a 2 pack of these and considering they are not OEM controllers, I did not expect much. In fact if you look at the red controller in the picture, it even *looks* cheap and crappy.

Boy was I wrong!

This controller is FANTASTIC! I’m happy to share that the controller has fully functional Sixaxis capabilities, the buttons feel good (although have some pretty hilarious glyphs), the battery charges fast, and it lasts a while too.

I would highly recommend these controllers, and if they break on me, I will surely get another.

Needed new controllers with all the features the original PS3 ones had to play games like Folklore and decided to give these a shot. Arrived fairly quickly in a nice compact box and both controllers function well and feel sturdy enough. I don't know if I'd use them as a weapon like some older controllers but take care of them and they should last awhile. A bit small for my hands but otherwise lightweight and functional.

I was hoping for low-quality controllers that we could use for some multi-player GT5, MX vs ATV, etc... on my PS3. Unfortunately, the analog control sticks(steering input) work SO poorly that these controllers simply CAN NOT BE USED FOR GAMES THAT REQUIRE STEERING INPUT. It's THAT bad! Leaning a motorcycle left and right on "MX vs ATV" is the most definitive scenario for showcasing the presence or absence of quality analog steering input. On our system, we can even detect whether or not the TV's game mode is on/off here. The motorcycle steers "heavy", like a real bike, and large steering movements result in a large weight shift with a slow return-to-center. The game requires higher steering input sensitivity for this reason to avoid those large steering inputs. This controller will only generate a Large steering input. More precisely, a 2-stage 50% and 100% input. Other reviewers interpret this as "lag", and I get it. But what's really happening is better described as a 50% dead-zone with a 2 point binary input. It's bad. Real bad.
I gave this review 1 star, and I mean 1 star. Not zero. The controller syncs-up nicely, takes a charge, and is entirely capable of operating the PS3 menu screen. It's very possible that you don't even game on your PS3, but rather use your PS3 as a Blu-ray player or some other multimedia device. This controller is entirely adequate for these tasks, and a bargain for the user who just needs a "remote control" for the system.

These controllers will work fine for a PS3 but won't pair wirelessly for anything linux based (retropie, recalbox, etc). The issue is they are PS3 clones that require a "quirks mode" enabled to get them working with the sixaxis drivers. These identify themselves as a different manufacturer id "GUO HUA PS3 GamePad" when they're otherwise the same as "SHANWAN PS3 GamePad". That little change by the manufacturer breaks the way these sorts of controllers get detected by linux kernels and bluez to both pair and flip on quirks mode. So don't get these controllers unless you exclusively want to use them with a true PS3 or are fine always being wired up through USB with linux.
