5.0 out of 5 stars Great small keychain controller!

Using it with my iPhone, have had it on my keychain for about a month and it's great. I can game anywhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cool Controller

I use this product for Anki on a Mac and it works really well. It was easy to connect to my laptop and also really easy to program. It is a slightly smaller than the 8BitDo Zero 2 and a bit heavier. The 8BitDo controller feels a little better in my hand because it is a little bigger but this one works just as well. It looks much cooler than the 8BitDo controller which is why I got this one.

My only complaint is that when I first connected it to my computer it was doing this weird thing where whatever I had pulled up on my computer would slowly scroll down constantly and would let me scroll up easily. I am not sure what that was but it seems to have gone away after a couple hours of using it. It also sometimes is a little finicky when reconnecting with my computer (I've only had an issue with this once so far). This is why I deducted a star.

**Update: I’ve been using this for about a month and it’s become impossible to use. Sometimes it will register one button click as two and sometimes it won’t register at all. I wish I could return this but it’s been too long. This remote is useless now because of this. It’s a waste of money if you actually want to use it for anything other than a keychain.

I really love this controller especially with how cheap and portable it is but after putting it on my keys and using it the letters and buttons are getting scratches and the finish is wearing off. Other than that it's a cure little controller.

This little controller is easy to connect to your device and even though it’s really small, it’s surprisingly easy to use. Great buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Compact SNES-Style gamepad, excellent color options
Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2024
I’ve been curious about this brand CRKD (pronounced “cracked”) since they released their NitroDeck grip for Nintendo Switch because I thought the product was cool but I already had so many Joycons and controller grips for my Nintendo Switch that it didn’t seem worth the high price. But, when I saw that this new Atom controller was available, I definitely had to try it.

This CRKD Atom is a miniaturized SNES-Style gamepad with four total shoulder buttons like a normal controller (instead of only two like on the SNES controller). This makes it somewhat more useful with Switch and modern games, although since you only have a d-pad, you cannot play 3D games with this. I mean you can try but it won’t work because you will have no way to control your character (unless movement is already mapped to the d-pad and not the left analog stick) or the camera.

The controller is easy to pair with the Nintendo Switch, which is the platform I chose to use for testing this controller- specifically with Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. The retro consoles like NES, SNES, Gameboy Advance, and OG Gameboy are perfect for a controller like this with no analog sticks. Using the controller feels good, the buttons are nice and responsive and the d-pad is well made and hitting the diagonal directions feels correct. The face buttons are using the traditional membrane style of mechanism, so they aren’t loud or clicky feeling. The controller does have a home button but there is no capture/screenshot button which is usually standard on Switch controllers, so be aware of that if you like to use the system’s built-in ability to take screenshots or record clips of gameplay.

Since this controller is from CRKD, you can link it to their app if you create an account. You use your iPhone’s NFC reader to tap the controller to your phone and that’s how it can tell you how rare the controller is. This feels kind of pointless and unnecessary, it feels like they came up with this idea during the NFT craze and they thought people would be more interested in their product …I guess? I don’t see why though, gaming companies seem interested in blockchain/NFT technology but I’ve never known gamers to care about this type of stuff at all.

The best thing about this product lineup IMO is all of the color choices, I absolutely love this Atomic Purple color and I think the PAL grey is pretty snazzy as well. I included photos of the Atom controller next to my Switch OLED and an 8bitdo Pro 2 controller so that you can see how small it is relative to items that you may already own and be familiar with.

That's pretty much it. It works great and it's cute. May not play well with all CFWs, or certain games but it's been generally cooperative with my systems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, but better than expected

I bought this as using the controls on the phone was getting annoying. This should be charged before attempting to use. Read the instructions on how to pair as it is different for Switch/ios/android etc. I've bought directly from CRKD in the past, and highly recommend the brand. They often have their own sales and specials on their website.

1.0 out of 5 stars Forces you to download an app, make an account, then won't even connect.
Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2025
What an absolute waste of time and money. You can't even connect the stupid thing without first:
    1) downloading their horrible app
    2) entering your contact information to create an account

Then once you've gone through more steps than you have to set up a damn bank account, you try to pair the thing with your devices and it won't work.

Save yourself a migraine and skip this garbage.
