5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound quality, easy to set-up on XBOX & PC, fantastic Range
Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2023
It took me a long time to select headphones for XBOX gaming & on-line webinars with the added bonus of bluetooth connectivity to my cellphone. I did a tremendous amount of research which is really difficult because the majority of manufacturers website descriptions are geared towards teenagers - all glitter and noise with meaningless videos. Maybe I am old fashioned but I want specifications like the range of the 2.4ghz connectivity - simple questions right? Can I go outside for a smoke or get a cold soda from the frig without dropping my connection - the vast majority did not list the range of their connectivity or if their app for sound adjustments carried over from PC to console (in my case the Xbox). Fortunately, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X has excellent range - I found that standing next to heavy duty electrical devices - like my Samsung Refrigerator caused interference but not a total disconnect, 75' from the plug in dongle. Moving the Dongle from the XBOX 1X to the PC (2' from each other) and flipping the XBOX/PC switch was a breeze, syncing the headphones was a no brainer, just turn headphones on they sync immediately, on board headphone controls took a little getting used to especially the bluetooth on/off and the headphones on/off dual switch is poorly labeled with some raised symbols - they should have used some paint to distinguish which position is bluetooth vs headphone power - I have to get a flashlight and glasses to see the markings. Other than that the headphone mute is a locking pushbutton with a audible tone and a red LED on the microphone to let u know if mic is on or off - REMEMBER to SHUT MIC OFF if you are retracting the microphone back into the headset or all kinds of weird feedback will occur - obviously since mic will pickup what's coming from that side of the headset. I found after messing around with the app that out of the box flat setting was great for most purposes. I have a very high end Dolby ATMOS/DTS:X 7.3.4 surround system so even though the headphones sound decent as compared to a pair of studio quality recording headphones - nothing compares with my home theater speakers. I could wear these headphones for several hours before my ears started to get too warm. Microphone quality on group IP based teleconferences and via bluetooth for telephone calls is excellent and being able to connect to both the Xbox or PC via Quantum 2.0 over 2.4Ghz and to any bluetooth device, in my case my Galaxy phone simultaneously is a welcome feature. Answering a phone call automatically mutes the microphone to the 2.4Ghz connection whether it be the Xbox or the PC.
Finally the battery life is pretty amazing - @38 hours for the USB connection only or 26 hours if you have both the USB (2.4Ghz) and the Bluetooth on together. The USB C fast-charge connection on the headphones is very fast with 15-minute charge providing 6 hours of USB time if u are dealing with a completely dead battery - which is an almost impossible situation considering the 38 hour capacity. A real world example is using the headset for 5 hours it took about 15-20 minutes to get it back to 100%.

You can customize the appearance of the headset with optional matching metal earcup plates and headband in 4 colors Cherry Red, Mint Green, Lilac & Rose Quartz. It comes with all the cables you will need to charge (USB C male to USB A male - 5'), connect USB C Dongle (including a short USB A male to USB C female to connect to Xbox or to a PC if dongle interferes with PC/Laptop USB C port and other connections), and even a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (4 pin to 5 pin) 4' audio cable to connect headset in analog mode to Xbox controller or other analog audio input/output headphone/mic jack. If you need a splitter cable for the analog connection to separate mic/headphone you would need to purchase that separately it is on Steelcase website as is the color upgrade options. It also comes standard with the breathable cloth earpieces which can also be replaced with the vinyl cups if u wish also optional on Steelcase website. A rather cheap clothlike storage bag comes with headset - it will at least keep dust and pet hair off your headset.

I rate this headset 9.5 of 10 considering reduced Amazon price, excellent sound, range, positive connectivity (no disconnects for me at all), battery life, dual simultaneous connectivity 2.4Ghz & Bluetooth, best microphone quality and best software-controlled sound and microphone control - this after trying and returning other major brands in this price range, and comfort/fit, finish.
The only minor complaints are the cheap storage bag and the somewhat difficult combination bluetooth power and overall power on/off buttons being one rocker switch and hard to read labeling for that switch - visually the Bluetooth LED indicator is Blue and the overall power button for the 2 way dongle LED is green - so u know u made a mistake after the fact if wrong color LED is lit.

BTW the room I use this headset is LOADED with wi-fi "smart" devices including 8 ceiling LED lights, 4 wall sconce LED lights, 2 wi-fi controlled window shades, Amazon Firecube w/Alexa, LG 77"C1 OLED TV. Xfinity 4K cable box, Xbox1X, all Alexa controlled via 2.4Ghz wireless & hardwired. The key to having all of this in one room is to hardwire as much as possible (main wireless router is in basement, hardwired remote 8 port switch behind A/V racks) - so all of the A/V equipment is hardwired - the lights and shades are 2.4Ghz wi-fi, nothing seems to interfere with the Steelcase 2.4GHz Quantum 2.0 Gaming Wireless connection dongle which is 15' from where I typically sit with headphones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good fit for kids.

I’m a gamer and so is my son. I own the Audeze Maxwell and they are dope. They are planars and they sound fantastic. However, they are really heavy and too big for my kid to borrow. Not to mention they are way too expensive for me to trust him with them. Lol.
So I was looking for something great at around $120. These fit my budget and they are good for ps5 and pc.
About the headphones-
My 10yr old loves they. Didn’t have to pair them. They worked right out of the box on pc. Even though they say Xbox, the dongle has a switch. Move it over from Xbox to usb-c and you are ready to go on other devices.
Compared to my Audeze, these were great sounding. They don’t compare fully to mine but they are really good. I’m impressed!
I know there’s not a lot of reviews out there for good kids headphones so I wanted to share and help you guys out.
They are easily sized by the headband and the extendable arms will do the final tweaking for a perfect fit.
Like others have said. The mic is not the best but it’s good. My kid hears his friends fine and there’s no feedback on the mic so far. So in all for the price…. I give it a 10!
I did purchase the insurance and from personal experience, it’s always good to have. It’s only $20 extra and these electronic devices will eventually break! Just a piece of mind in my opinion and it’s cheaper than buying another a year down the line.
I will update if anything changes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sidetone = Yes!

Just an initial review having gotten these a few days ago. My Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Max died after a few months, and I wanted to try something else. They were heavy with too much clamp, full of connection issues. I was trying to find a backup that had good sidetone. It's hard to find any documentation on what headsets have any sidetone, so I wanted to add to this for anybody else looking for it. The Arctis Nova 7x does have a fairly good sidetone, but it requires a few tweaks to use it well. This walkthrough is mainly for Xbox, I haven't refined the sidetone for PC play. Could be the same, I'm guessing. You'd just be using your system volume mixer.

First, when you get these, install Steelseries GG software from their site. Go into the Engine tab and click on your headset. No need to plug them in wired, just use the USB setting on the dongle. Turn the sidetone to max. You might notice it's still not super strong. But a good way to boost it is when you get back to your Xbox, turn your main volume dial up fairly loud. You'll notice the sidetone increases too. At higher volumes you can whisper to yourself, and it sounds great with no lag. But now your game is probably going to be too loud. Turn your game/chat mixer on the other ear, almost down to no game sound, the lowest setting you can find. I found this to be a good balance. The chat mix wheel I find is pretty sensitive, because of its 0-100-0 functionality. So if you bump it, your game can easily get too loud. I have found though that once you get a friend on the other line in a party, the sidetone does get a little more muffled than if you're playing alone, but still better than none at all. I think the sidetone could still use a boost on the headset settings side.

Overall I'm super happy with these so far. No connection issues whatsoever. You will need a dongle adapter for the USB-C dongle on your Xbox. They're super light, and VERY comfortable, 10x more comfortable than Turtle Beach's. The dials are a little loose and plastic feeling, but not bad. I do wish the mic could extend about another half-inch, I think this would make the sidetone even more effective.
