5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift for Harry Potter Fans!
Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2025
I got Hogwarts Legacy for my 12-year-old daughter as a gift, and she absolutely loves it! She’s a huge Harry Potter fan, and this game brings the magical world of Hogwarts to life in a way that she can explore and interact with.

She’s had so much fun creating her own character, learning spells, and exploring the castle and the surrounding areas. The level of detail in the game is incredible—she keeps pointing out little things that remind her of the books and movies. It’s been a joy to see her so immersed in the game.

I played this on the PS5 and thought it was fantastic, so I was curious how the Switch version would hold up. From what I’ve seen, it runs just as smoothly, though the graphics are slightly downgraded. That said, it still looks great for a Switch game, and the portability makes it a fantastic option for gaming on the go.

If you’ve got a young witch or wizard in your house—or if you’re a fan of the Wizarding World yourself—this is an easy recommendation. It’s magical, fun, and packed with adventure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic All Around Game

Great open world, exploration based game. The combat system is complex but intuitive, and once you master it, you simply go around the region and lay waste to dark wizards. The flying system is pretty dialed in and a joy as well. I love the moral ambiguity and ability to make choices that change the results of the game.

Not as deep as skyrim, in regards to interactivity or lore, but loads more interesting environment than BoTW/TotK. In regards to replayability, I may go back and play this one again, but I'm not going to put the same amount of time into it as I would the other aforementioned games. This one is a good 40-80hrs of play, not the hundreds or thousands you may put into the others.

I feel like this one has a lot of potential, and would love to see some DLC content worked out for it. Definitely a great addition to the HP universe and game library.

5.0 out of 5 stars My kid loves it
Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2024
My kid is a Harry Potter fan and loves this game. It doesn’t fit any of the plots from the 7 HP books. It has its own plot and set of characters, although the characters are related to the ones in the HP series. The story is set several generations before the HP timeline.

Spells are fun to learn and accumulate, puzzles are just enough challenging. Graphics are very cool. I see similarities to Zelda, Breath of the Wild, which my kid also loves. Different layers of maps, lots of major quests and side quests, player choice of storyline etc etc. But my kid insists they are dramatically different. To my untrained eye I guess!

Because you can choose your house, my kid is planning on going through the game from all four houses eventually. Apparently the level of difficulty and intricacies of story and challenges differ, so this will be like four games in one! Hours of entertainment and enjoyment which makes this a great buy.

Purchased for the Switch. This game is enjoyable and has some degree of difficulty. I enjoy exploring more of Hogwarts and the surrounding lands discovering mysteries and solving challenges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must for all Harry Potter fans

Around 5-6 hours into the game, Nintendo sent me a survey about this game. At the time I was still in the earlier stages and I’m going to be honest I was a little bit bored. I gave it a some what of a low rating. But after that the game quickly showed a lot of variety in the game play. I love open world concepts and this I would say it’s half and half on the “open” part. There were areas I couldn’t visit or you can tell it’s not triggering till you get to certain stages.

I’m a casual gamer and I think difficulty is not very hard. I’d say it’s more like a movie you can play in than a game that has some story lines.
I’m almost done with the game and I gotta say there were a few things in this game that was really cool and I hope they add more things like that should they make a sequel.

I think some of the common complaints were that there is a lot of repetitiveness in the game but for me it was okay. I’d play an hour or two every night before bed for unwind and I didn’t mind it much.

I definitely recommend this game to a Harry Potter fan. Is it the greatest GAME? No I don’t think so if I’m being honest.

Amazing story, great open world, plenty of missions. Other houses besides Gryffendor and Slytherin could use more house stories. Other then that no complaints.
