Pretty easy install

I had high hopes for this backplate and I was not let down. I purchased a used steam deck not to long ago and the previous owner did a full case swap to a transparent case. I have a thing for RGB lighting and this backplate was a no brainer . Installation was easy , and it fits the transparent front plate perfectly . The added cutout on the back where the fan is , seems to allow the hot air to be expelled easier then a sealed backplate as well

One thing I am slightly disappointed in is the power of the lighting. I thought they would be stronger than they are , but it’s still adequate. It also included replacement back buttons and 2 rubber type slip over grips with cutouts for all the controls. I will not ne using them as it would cover up the aesthetic I was going for but still neat none the less

I love this backplate. I love that you can see the internals of the steam deck. The new vent also helps the steam deck run much cooler temps, and doesn't seem to go into overdrive mode too often. The RGB is an awesome addition, and runs on its own little battery built into the backplate.

I havent used the additional buttons, but it looks like they raised buttons would help a lot. The rubber grips are also a nice addition, but don't need to be used if you don't want to, but it does make the RGB look nicer.

The backplate is super easy to install and comes with a tool to help remove the old one. MAKE SURE TO REMOVE YOUR MICROSD FIRST!!!!!!! or else risk breaking it in half.

Ok so I really have wanted to open my deck up first to clean some buttons but also to do a shell swap. Sadly the screen is REALLY prone to breaking. So I saw this and thought it'd be ok. But it was so quick instalation was like 10 minutes. It's clear and the lights are honestly nice. Don't know what the silicone things are for but I tossed them.

Like the RGB and the case overall. Easy to install. Though I understand this is mostly not the seller’s fault (it’s valve’s because of how tightly coupled everything inside is and how they never meant for the deck’s parts to be swapped) I would have loved it if it worked differently.

- I would have loved it if the case could somehow connect to the deck’s mb so that it turns on when the deck turns on and turns off when the deck turns off…. I understand why this is not the case, but since I had never opened the deck before I never knew this was not the case and this back plate is an entire separate entity. Meaning it has its own power button and its own charging port….according to the instructions, the battery lasts about 2 hours depending on the lighting mode chosen. Charging time is also about 2 hours. It does have a light indicating if it’s charging and when it’s fully charged

- The charging port sits awkwardly on the back. I can’t find a comfortable way to charge it and am just concerned if I charge it with the front of the deck facing down on a table it could cause joystick drift. It would have been nice to have that charging port sit even higher on the back plate

- The extra opening in the middle is great…not sure why valve didn’t have something similar in the original back case

- would have loved some sort of app to just be able to control it from within the deck instead of having to cycle through modes…an app would add infinite number of possibilities…Now that I have it installed, it is of course obvious why there isn’t such thing…..but at the time of purchase I didn’t know so I figured I would mention it.

Again, I understand this is mostly not the seller’s fault, but maybe I missed all of this in their description of the product…I don’t think I saw any of these things which may have ultimately influenced my decision to purchase.
