5.0 out of 5 stars Rereview of an amazing product
Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2024
This is a re-review of this item. I originally gave it 3 stars as my experience was hampered with the shoulder buttons, which made some games unplayable, and at best, very annoying. The issue I had was the bumper buttons would register multiple (sometimes up to 5 or 6 in rapid succession) presses when only pressed once, and although the controller has a turbo feature, this was not on at all, it was a hardware fault. I had sent back the controller for a full refund and bought the G8 Galileo, which is an absolute incredible piece of kit, and something I have another review for!

Well, the company reached out and asked what they could do to resolve the issue, and I informed them that I had already returned the controller for a refund, and full disclosure here, they agreed to send me a replacement controller free of charge to retest the controller. I have to say (it's clearly positive due to the fact that this is now a 5 star review from a 3 star) the issue I had with the previous controller has not once reared it's ugly head since testing the new controller! This has been a much better and smoother experience than before, and the fact that the company went above and beyond to fix the situation is even better and excellent customer service outside of Amazon returns policy.

So an overview of the controller. It's a brilliant colour that's based on the Nintendo 2DS lavender edition, and although I wouldn't personally have chosen the color, I have grown to love it!

The shoulder buttons... They work flawlessly. It's amazing that they've managed to get them to work so we'll on this size scale, and the fact the triggers have hall effect sensors and full analogue, not haretriggers, is a step up from the previous offerings. The face buttons are clicky and comfortable to press, and although the placment of the right stick can get in the way of the A,B,X and Y buttons, the stick is small enough that you won't be too bothered by this and reaching around isn't an issue!!

Segway to the Sticks. They are so good!! They are a lot smaller than regular sticks, but this hasn't been an issue to adjust to, as they just feel so Damn good! These are also Hall Effect sensors and so far after 2 weeks of solid use I have not had any type of stick drift, and if they are anything like the G8 Galileo, then stick drift won't be an issue.

The feel... It feels really solid in the hand and comfortable thanks to the quite hefty rubber grips on each side at the back of the controller. I have large hands and although each side may seem cramped, it's definitely usable for average gaming for me. Mileage may vary based on bigger hands though, and there is going to be a point of diminishing return where hands that are just too big will not be able to use this functionaly, which is why the G8 Galileo exists.

Summary. This controller is a very good, solidly built gem, and thanks to the price it's the best in its price range by far. It beats out many more expensive controllers too, which is crazy for the $46 price tag! Sure you lose some comfort due to the compact size, but that's what this is; a compact telescopic controller that you can take on the go with you. And it does that very very well.

Overall, thanks to the company for their excellent customer service and for sending me a replacement unit for free to fix my initial issue. I'm glad to see it was a unit fault and not a manufacturer fault. Hopefully this review helps you make a purchasing decision and answers some questions you may have. Happy gaming! 5/5

UPDATE: It has been almost 3 months since I posted this review and have been using the Gamesit X2s USB C, and I have to say that it still feels as good as the first day I started using it. All the buttons are still excellent, and the sticks have had ZERO drift thanks to the sturdy and genius Hall Effect system. The triggers also have been a joy to use, and have no inaccurate presses of any kind. The whole thing has gone through hundreds of hours of testing and as I say, it is as fresh as day one. It never gets uncomfortable either, and I can use it for hours at a time, even with large hands! So, I wanted to add this to the review, but I needed to have the hands on experience to update. The verdict? It is still a perfect 5/5 from me. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars good but could be better
Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2024
very impressive controller, but could be improved in a few key ways.

    the good --
    1. buttons, sticks, and triggers all feel premium and accurate. d pad in particular is amazing
    2. the look is great, retro colors are super cute compared to other boring mobile controllers
    3. easy setup, everything works as expected, no input lag, etc etc
    4. no flex or give like many telescoping controllers have
    5. fits my phone with a (thin) case on

    could be improved --
    1. the biggest one... the telescoping bit is sharp and my hands do rest there, I have huge hands and this is comfortable other than that... why not put the telescoping bit in the middle? probably because of the circuit board but this sucks
    2. switch style sticks, enough said... a little bigger would be great!
    3. because of the first thing, holding a trigger while using both sticks is not very ergonomic. this is relevant in games that use e.g. LT to run
    4. charging ports on top always, please, it's 2024 and with heavy phones I often play this propped
    5. I can't help but feel that vertical sticks would be more comfy in this form factor but nobody makes anything like that

I do not use this with dual screens so can't comment on that! in all, the g8 was too bulky for me, so I don't regret this buy. it is surprisingly comfortable for the shape and very functional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Won't fit in a jeans pocket but otherwise great
Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2024
I bought this hoping it might fit in my men's jeans pocket, and it does - just barely. You could maybe carry it onto an airplane that way, as long as you removed it from your pocket before sitting down. If you want to carry it around town with you, you'll need a backpack or some such.

Also, you should assume that it will not work with phone cases - even a thin case will prevent the USB-C plug from firmly seating in the port on your phone. In the worst case this will result in an intermittent connection, leaving you wondering why the controller is connecting and then disconnecting.

I was able to make it work with my case by shaving away some of the rubber that grips the phone on one side of the USB-C plug. Obviously there are some downsides to doing that. It'll void any warranty. You also risk the phone falling out of the controller if you do it wrong. So be careful if you go this route.

I absolutely refuse to play games with a d-pad and buttons emulated on the phone touchscreen. But this controller is great; except for the neck strain it's as good as playing on a TV. Obviously you need to be sure the games you want support a USB-C controller. But you have lots of great options for that on Android these days.

Theoretically the GameSir app gives you additional customization options. I never installed it, and haven't missed it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very weak type c

I've had this controller for about a week, streaming my xbox games on my phone. Buttons are clicky, responsive, had no issues except one time taking my phone out the type c connector bent and lost all functionality.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Design, Didn't Work on Arrival
Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2024
I purchased this to use as a controller for Zenless Zone Zero, but it sadly didn't work out of the box.

I'm giving this a two instead of a one because I do like the design and it felt good in my hands when I was trying to get it to work with my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S23). Customer service was also nice and helpful when I was trying to troubleshoot.

It's a shame, as I was really looking forward to using it, but it didn't even turn on when I connected it to my phone.
