Great/ affordable option: 12v heater power source

I didn't actually get this item to use for an xbox power source, but it still works great and I hope someone who is looking just like I did finds this review helpful. I have a diesel heater that runs off of a 12v battery, but I wanted to modify it so that I could plug it into a normal 120v wall outlet. After doing some research, it turns out that these xbox power bricks are perfect in that they can take the 120v down to 12v while also delivering up to 10amps of power, something that is crucial for starting the glow plugs in a diesel engine. Other power converters that are made for that specific job are pretty pricey ($30-$60). To make it work, simply cut off the end of the adapter that plugs into the xbox. You will find a 4 wires inside: red (+) black (-) white(neutral) teal (5v). Simply splice your red and black wires from your heater to the power corresponding wires, and join the white and teal wires together and you have yourself a cheap power source. This can also work to power other things like led lights and other electronics that need battery but you want direct power.

Fan has been very loud at startup ever since we got this Xbox power cord. It just overheated and is no longer working after 5 months of use (maybe 1hr a day average use). Will not buy from this supplier again.

Works, but very loud

This power supply has been working great since I have plugged it in. Only issue is that while the Xbox is running, it makes a lot of noise and seems to have a fan in overdrive. I fear leaving it on for extended periods in case it has some issues.

Fan stays on 100% of the time its plugged in. Does not shut off if the Xbox is off. Gets really hot if you play for 2+ hours and starts clicking. I had to tip it on its side for the fan to come back on.
