I have a PS3, but have been using DualShock 4 controllers with it for games due to preference. WITHOUT this adapter, many of the functions of the DS4 are not recognized by the PS3 console such as: Gyro/6-Axis motion controls do not work, PS Home Button does not do anything, cannot use wireless to play PS2 games, as well as unstable connections.

This adapter, although a little pricy, fixes all of these issues easily and gives my DS4 controllers all of the additional functionality that was missing. The connection has been perfectly stable, my battery life has on my controller has actually gotten slightly better, and I have been able to enjoy my games to a much fuller extent. Motion controls, vibration in games, and the PS home button perform perfectly and there is basically no input lag. Legacy game support (PS1, PS2, PSP) is flawless as well. This is an excellent little adapter that gives my old PS3 a modern controller advantage. The only negative I have had so far is that you cannot turn the console ON with the controller using this adapter.

This device is incredibly helpful, as I can now use the 8bitdo arcade stick on ps4 and ps4 controllers on switch, which is so much better for games that require a d-pad since the Switch controller’s d-pads are not that great

I was amazed that wireless didn't have any input lag. With this I can connect my PS5 controller to my PS3 and it works with PS2 Classics and PS1 games through backwards compatibility.

Amazing device. My dualshock 3's died years ago and I don't want to buy replacement controllers. This baby works perfectly. My only gripe is how loosely it fits in my ps3 usb slot (LoL!). No reason to let the classics fade away if you don't want to. Peace!

I also have a Backwards Compatible PS3 (CECHE01) and I can confirm that this works for PS2 games. I am using this console with 1st Party PS4 controllers and even used one with a Third Party PS3 controller (the one that glows, you need to do some unplugging and replugging of the controller receiver for it to work). It all works like a charm and does not cause the system to crash if you registered the PS4 controller to the console as Sony intended. As far as I can see, you don't get the unique coloration if your controller is Player 1 or 2, but this is an excellent alternative if you don't have a genuine Dualshock 3 controller. Easy to connect via Bluetooth and you can connect multiple controllers on the same dongle. I would recommend this product to others.

For the last couple years my ps3 controllers have been going out 1 by 1. Im down to 1 original sony and a couple of knockoffs that dont feel right and I would only use in a pinch. I am now using my ps5 controller like a charm for ps3. I havent tested a six axis game but have been fine with what i am currently playing. The only downside is the PS button wont turn the system on so I have to do that manually, but the PS does it intended features when playing. I can hold the button down to quit a game for example. Everything else seems great!

My only complaint is that the manual is in slightly broken english and the software, if you wish to use it, is for windows only, and is not intuitive.

However, the product still gets five stars. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Using a USB A to USB C cable, i can plug my dualsense (ps5 controller) in to both my nintendo switch (via dock) and my playstation 3, and both systems work flawlessly and instantly. (Note for the switch you must turn ON the setting in switch system settings "pro controller wired connection").
