5.0 out of 5 stars The simplest, easiest solution for protecting your Nintendo Switch's screen
Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2024
amFilm's Nintendo Switch screen protector has served me very well since I purchased it earlier this year. My screen has been free of scratches no matter how much time I've spent using it in Handheld Mode, and if the screen protector does get any fingerprints or smudges, they are incredibly easy to clean off. This product comes with everything you'd need right out of the box; you get an intstruction manual, wipes to clean your screen off prior to application, and it even includes two screen protectors just in case. Applying this product to the console is incredibly easy, simple, and quick so long as you follow the included instructions, and the screen protector does not interfere with any of the unit's normal functionality such as its touch screen. If you're in the market for this type of product, this one in particular would be my go-to recommendation.

    Pros:
    - Easy to apply to your Nintendo Switch system
    - Effectively protects it from scratches or any other kind of damage
    - Maintains high visual clarity and full functionality
    - Comes with everything you need out of the box

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Protection — Even From Itself!

So I'd gotten these since they happened to have the overall best reviews. Hoping that these were actually good I figured that the price wasn't worse than I'd pay for a few coffees or maybe a meal out; I mean I wasn't doing either since this was at the start of sheltering in place and going out for food was the furthest thing away from my mind. Since it came with 2 that was even better since I needed both for the two Switches that we had just gotten.

So I installed both according to the instructions and honestly it was probably the easiest screen protector installation that I've had (I'm used to the plastic film kind that require the use of a card and some patience to remove the bubbles). To be honest I think that I spent more time making sure that the screen was dust-free and checking to make sure that the protector's positioning was good before installing the protector than actually putting the protector onto the screen. Perfect fit, no bubbles, and nearly indistinguishable from the screen itself. So there it sat on the screens of the Switches for a year and a half. Then, one morning I tried brushing off a hair that wasn't a hair.

A small, partial crack had formed in the protector that soon propagated across the protector and then another came up from the bottom to meet it. I'm not sure what caused these cracks, but the system has had a few minor bumps (none to the screen directly) and perhaps the shock from those bumps was enough to cause cumulative strain and eventually spontaneous fracture (something that tempered glass is occasionally known to do). I was a little disappointed, but it gave me 18 months of solid performance through games with touch screen controls, a few bumps, and the Switch's chassis likely lightly flexing as the buttons were frantically hit while in handheld mode—I'm not rough on my stuff, but the Switch would generally come with me from room-to-room and sometimes accompany me to doctors appointments. Furthermore, even with the hairline cracks the screen protector was still nearly invisible (when viewed directly; from the side it looked moderately horrifying if you didn't know that the crack was in a screen protector) and didn't seem to expose any sharp edges along the cracks. Of course I figured best not to push my luck with shattered pieces of glass and so I ordered a replacement.

I was wholly expecting to have a difficult time removing the 3 large pieces—and one small piece—that the previous screen protector had broken into. Turns out that I was wrong. Apparently the adhesive layer of the glass is more than adhesive. In fact it appears to be a thin layer of plastic strong enough to holds the broken pieces together when carefully peeling it off of the screen! So the screen protector not only protects the screen from normal hazards, but it also protects the screen from broken pieces of the screen protector! It's not just tempered glass it's actually somewhat laminated—like how most windshields now have a film of plastic on the inside to keep the shards from flying free. Honestly this is better than I expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best screen protector I have tried for the Switch by far!

So this will be my first review after many many years on Amazon and many many purchases but I was just astounded at how well this worked!

To start off with I have bought 3 different screen protectors for the Switch and the only ones that worked without a hitch are these.

The first screen protectors I tried were the Nintendo licensed Hori screen protectors (I tried 2 of these) and they were so perfectly cut for the Switch screen that if you were off by a millimeter the entire screen protector was held off of the screen and allowed air and dust to collect and spread. Both times I applied a Hori screen protector I aligned it perfectly with the cutouts but that still wasn't good enough to allow it to bond to the screen without the lifting on the sides which allowed tons of air and dust under. They also attracted dust like nobodies business when trying to apply them (even in a humid bathroom) They also didn't come with wet/dry wipes and the red Switch branded cleaning cloth shed everywhere.

The next screen protector I got was the protector that comes with the Zelda skin kit and while it was a much much better fit it immediately attracted dust when you started applying it (even in a very humid, small bathroom). I almost had it perfect with the exception of one corner and when I went to clean that corner and get the dust and fuzz out from under it it immediately attracted more and I could never get it clean enough to provide a decent seal without tons of dust in that one corner.

Next are these, the amFilm Tempered Glass screen protectors, and I am absolutely astounded at how easily I applied it with only one piece of dust which I was able to get out with the dust removal sticker. I started out by allowing turning my shower on as hot as it goes (we tweaked our heater so water comes out hotter than what is legal to when selling them) and when the mirrors were nice and fogged over and the heat hit me as soon as I walked in I brought the Switch, without the controllers, into the bathroom. I cleaned it with the wet cloth, used the dry cloth to get the excess alcohol from the wet cloth off, and didn't even have to clean it with the microfiber cloth because it was immaculate. I pulled the tempered glass protector out of the foam, held it away from the Switch while peeling off the back so no dust that might be on it would fall on the screen, aligned it with the holes on the side of the screen, and let the protector go. It immediately adhered to the screen and the bubbles immediately disappeared except for 2, I worked both out but noticed the second had been extremely hard to work out and that's when I saw the long piece of dust/fuzz.

I started getting really really worried because with the others when I had tried to clean out the dust was when everything went horribly wrong. I pulled the dust sticker off of the paper (they provide tons of stickers), worked that one small area up with my fingernail, and slowly stuck the sticker under to get the dust. It immediately stuck to the sticker and came out from under the protector easily and the protector sealed quickly without any other dust getting under the protector. This is the absolute easiest time I have EVER had applying a screen protector and the most perfect I have ever had one because there is not a single piece of dust under it!

The fit is also nice, it isn't like the Hori protectors that you have to be absolutely perfect aligning (not to mention that that they're ridiculously expensive, $7.99, for a SINGLE plastic screen protectors when you get 2 of these tempered glass protectors for $10.99) because these are cut a slight bit smaller that the full screen so you can me off by a millimeter and not screw up the entire screen protector.

If you're getting a screen protector for your Switch (and you should be thanks to the dock scratching the ever-loving hell out of the screen) this is definitely what you should be going with!
