5.0 out of 5 stars It's Harry Potter and Lego. How can you go wrong?!

My then 6 year old fell in love with all things Harry Potter over the holidays. Fortunately for her, mommy and daddy had not seen the last 3 movies so we had a movie marathon one weekend and watched the whole lot of them. After that was all said and done she was running around the house expecto patronuming us all day. We decided to grab a couple Harry Potter games to get her to stop killing us all day. It's really hard to come back to life after the worlds best 6 year old wizard kills you for the 23rd time. We had to do something. In comes the Lego games. Overall any of the Lego games are great for her age. She had played the xbox 360 version of the Lego Movie video game with her daddy and loved every minute of it. Needless to say the Lego Harry Potters were a no brainer after that. You don't really die. As a video Gamer from the Atari generation I generally dislike endless tries but hey, for a 6 year old I guess it's ok.

As for the game itself it follows the movies very closely so if you haven't watched them (I think we were the last people on the planet who hadn't!) you will have spoilers. It is easy to play and easy to follow. Only a couple times did she get stuck on the DS version. There were a few difficult parts on the xbox version but I'm reviewing that separately. Not sure what else to say. Great movies, great combination with the Lego model of games. I love portable stuff. How on earth did our parents tolerate us in a car back in the day? ;) 5 stars all the way!!

Such a fun cute game! We already have it for the Wii but my kiddo just got a 3DS XL for Christmas, and this was one of the games I bought for him so he could play it on the go. It's a little different, obviously, and I do prefer the Wii set up. However, this is still a lot of fun, and my 7 year old can play it without needing help. I'm having fun with it too! =D

I love the game, but it did get stuck in one part. Every time I got to it, the screen would just go dark. Eventually I got past it, but it was annoying. However, the game is still fun if you like lego video games.

I bought this for my 14-year-old daughter who is a Harry Potter NUT. She just loved the game! She opened it Christmas morning and imemdiately began playing. She said it's a little harder than the first game (Years 1-4), which is good as it's a challenge. This game is worth the money, and I would recommend it to others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good? Yes. Great? No.

It's not THAT bad, but it does take some getting accustomed to. Compared to HP Years 1-4 for the DS, it is VERY different. The controls are completely different (instead of using the stylus for spells like you did in HP years 1-4, you select the spell you want to use on the touch screen and then cast the spell using the Y button), and you rarely use the stylus. There are new characters to play with and they introduced a dueling mode (which can be annoying, but it's not too bad).

If you expected this game to be just like HP Years 1-4, then yes, you will be disappointed. I admit that I was sorely disappointed at first. However, the longer I played the game, the more I got accustomed to it and I actually started to like it. However, I don't like it nearly as much as HP Years 1-4 for several reasons:

*Controls can be difficult to use, especially when switching between characters/spells
*Graphics during the "movie" scenes leave a lot to be desired
*When flying on the broomstick, it is nearly impossible to see where your character is going
*Some dueling battles feel excessively drawn out and it is almost impossible to defeat the other character
*Some levels (Gringott's Break In, Great Hall when Fred/George are leaving Hogwarts, etc.) need more directions so that you actually know what to do. I shouldn't have to run a Google search to figure out how to defeat a level...

Overall, I give this game 3 stars. I don't like how it was such a drastic change from HP Years 1-4, but as stated earlier: once I got accustomed to it, it wasn't too bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is so much fun for my kids to play

This game is so much fun for my kids to play. They characters, although legos, still look and act like the characters in the book/movie. Lots of levels to play and it follows the book with the content. The only downside is it goes too fast.
