The graphics and animations are beautiful! The landscapes are gorgeous! Satisfying gameplay, fun exploration, creative weapons, interesting characters, and a really cool execution of dimensional concepts.
I think this is a great game to play, and a great game for any Ratchet and Clank newcomer (like me).

5.0 out of 5 stars Just really really good!

So I managed to finally snag a PS5 for Christmas and got two games. One was Elden Ring, which was amazing. The other was Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart may have only taken me about 28 hours to get a platinum on, but every single moment was amazing. I've been a fan of the series ever since the first one on PS2 back in 2002, and it's nice to know that they are still managing to keep the series fun all this time. The weapons are a fun mixture of destructive and zany as usual, and the story is quite good for the series as well. The graphics though, just WOW. Usually I'm not all that impressed by graphics anymore, but holy moly it's like I'm playing a high budget Pixar film! The characters all look just fantastic, with Ratchet and Rivet's fur blowing in the wind, holding droplets of moisture from the rain, and other hard to notice but really nice details.

I would whole-heartedly recommend this game to anyone who has even the slightest interest in the franchise and recommend it even harder to anyone who likes or loves the series. I played through the whole thing twice, as you need to finish it once to unlock challenge mode. Just really fun and entertaining the whole way through, and if you have little siblings or younger audience members watching you play through... well my niece and nephew were enthralled just watching the whole thing. Some of the set pieces in the game are REALLY good and well put together.

Just a really really good game over all, and I will definitely be picking up any sequel that may come out for it in the future.

Arrived in good condition. The game is a real visual treat. Fun but like most R&C games... story is a little short.

I haven't been with this series for very long, but I've enjoyed the games I've played and this game is no different. A lot of fun and colorful characters, zany alien worlds/dimensions, wacky weapons to try, and a fun story to tie it all together. Looks great on PS5 and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun sci-fi action game

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty much what I expected

20 hours played on Hard difficulty

I’ve played just about all of the Ratchet and Clank games at this point, and they’ve all been fun. If you’re NOT new to these games, then you should know what to expect by now. They’re short, hectic, and fun to play. If you’re expecting to be swept off your feet, then this may not be the game for you.

[Combat]
These games are primarily 3rd person shooters with a touch of melee and “strategic” combat sprinkled in. By “strategic” I’m referring to setting up traps and tossing out bombs. I mainly stuck to the shooting and melee since that’s my wheelhouse. The shooting controls felt tight and if I missed a shot, I knew it was my fault. The melee combat was assigned to one button and offered a good change of pace. Although, I wouldn’t advise trying to play the entire game as a melee fighter because that could prove to be difficult. In other words, you should pick your spots…

[Weaponry]
Ratchet & Clank are well known for their weapon variety. Heck, you’ll come across weapons that you’d be surprised someone could think of. I’m sorry to disappoint you but I stuck to the same couple of weapons, as I tend to do in every game. For me, it was the blaster weapon that you start the game with and I eventually moved to a more powerful weapon that shot out discs. There’s a ton of other fun stuff available that I didn’t try.

[Enemies]
My only problem with the previous games was I felt they were a tad bit on the easy side at times. To remedy this, I decided to play this version on the harder difficulty, and the enemies felt just right. In other words, I needed to respect each and every encounter because there was no guarantee that I would come out on top. These enemies are smart enough to dodge your stream of fire so you can’t just aim, close your eyes, and fire away. You really have to pay attention to what you’re doing. I guess the enemy variety was ok for a short game? There are about 9 planets in total, and my hope is I’d encounter new enemies on each planet, and I’m not sure that happened. The boss fights were ok and I usually beat them within a few attempts.

[Miscellaneous]
* There’s a new playable character (Rivet). She plays identical to Ratchet, and you’ll play as her roughly half the time.

* The game has one of the better maps I’ve seen in gaming. It actually fills in the map as you explore, so it’s always easy to tell which areas you’ve not explored yet (they will not be filled in).

* The fast travel could be better. I wish there was a way to fast travel back to your ship as opposed to running alllll the way back to it!

*The game looks amazing and shows the true potential of what the PS5 can do.

I’ll be honest. I don’t think you should pay full price for this game because it’s far too short to warrant $69.99 or however much it cost. However, if you can grab it on Black Friday and play it until that next “big release” comes out; then this would be perfect. If you’ve never played these games and are intrigued, give it a try!!! Elex 2; you’re up next!

This game is so much fun, especially after you accumulate better weapons. Great and funny storyline, amazing graphics, just perfect. I finished it twice, once in regular difficulty and once in hard mode and will probably get back to it at some point.
Amazing game love it
